## United Arab Emirates Proposes Establishment of Gulf Skiing Federation
During its participation in the annual meetings of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) in Vilamoura, Portugal, the **United Arab Emirates (UAE)** proposed the creation of a **Gulf Skiing Federation**. This initiative aims to advance the development of winter sports in the Gulf region.
The proposal received **widespread support** from FIS members, who expressed their backing for the formation of the federation, recognizing its potential to foster skiing across the Gulf countries.
### UAE’s Participation in FIS Meetings
The UAE is represented at the meetings, which opened on **May 5** and conclude tomorrow, through a delegation from the **UAE Winter Sports Federation**. The UAE has been a full member of FIS since **2021**, which has allowed the country to host the **International Ski Championship** for three consecutive years at **Ski Dubai**, featuring participation from over **48 countries**.
### Seminar on Inclusive Sports Leadership
The FIS meetings also included the second edition of a seminar titled **”Bridging the Gaps: Building Inclusive Sports Leadership Together.”** This seminar emphasized **biodiversity conservation** as a key pillar of sustainability in sports. Representatives from **35 national federations** participated, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to support skiing sports on both regional and global levels.
