Meeting of the Dubai Judicial Council: Enhancing the Judicial System

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, chaired a meeting to follow up on matters related to the judicial authority, its members, and strategic plans.

Approval of Appointments and Training Programs

During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum approved the appointment of several judicial inspectors within the Judicial Inspection Authority for 2025, reflecting its growing supervisory role in support of the Dubai judiciary.

Additionally, he sanctioned the enrolment of 14 judicial trainees into the Judicial and Legal Studies program, part of Dubai Courts’ initiative to induct qualified Emirati judges. A resolution was also approved regarding the secondment of judiciary members to enhance their qualifications and exposure to judicial best practices. The budget for judicial appointments and promotions for 2026 was also ratified.

Survey Results: Community Confidence in the Judicial System

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum reviewed the results of the Community Confidence in Dubai Judicial System survey for 2024, which indicated an increase in public confidence to 86%.

“Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we have established an advanced judicial system to ensure swift justice and the rule of law,” said Sheikh Maktoum.

The survey revealed that 92% of respondents were satisfied with the responses received from judicial bodies, showcasing the effectiveness of services provided through digital channels.

Public Perception of Justice and Rights

Further analysis of the survey showed:

  • 87% believed that Dubai’s judicial entities respect cultural diversity.
  • 89% recognized efforts towards universal justice.
  • 90.41% affirmed the judiciary’s role in safeguarding rights and freedoms.
  • 86% felt that reliable mechanisms are in place to audit the judicial system’s effectiveness.
  • 87% stated that the judiciary treats all societal segments equally and impartially.

Ongoing Improvements in the Judicial System

Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council, emphasized that the overall improvement in public confidence results from key legislative measures and continuous innovations by the Judicial Council and other entities.

Dr. Al Sabousi highlighted ongoing collaboration among judicial entities in Dubai, under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum, to enhance services and present Dubai as a global model for swift and efficient justice.
