International community must shoulder its responsibilities to end Sudan’s crisis: Ambassador to Netherlands

## UAE Ambassador Calls for Immediate Halt to Violence in Sudan

Ameirah AlHefeiti, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has stressed that after more than two years of humanitarian catastrophe endured by the Sudanese people, it is crucial for the violence to cease immediately. The Ambassador emphasized the urgent need for **political and military exploitation of humanitarian aid to end**.

### A Vision for Peace

AlHefeiti called for a future for Sudan grounded in **peace and justice**, advocating for a political consensus that leads to the establishment of an **independent civilian leadership**, free from military dominance.

In a recent interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) in The Hague, she stated:

> “In light of this catastrophic humanitarian crisis, it is imperative that the international community takes swift and decisive action to end the suffering and create conditions for a genuine path towards peace.”

### International Responsibility

The Ambassador highlighted the **responsibility of the international community** to pressure both parties in the conflict to accept diplomatic solutions. She insisted that the **Sudanese Armed Forces** must be compelled to fulfill their obligations to peace and halt the escalation of war, which disregards the immense suffering experienced by the Sudanese populace.

### Accountability for the Crisis

AlHefeiti stated that the Sudanese Armed Forces continue to evade responsibility for the ongoing humanitarian disaster, instead blaming others for the destruction and displacement caused by their actions. She warned that this path could lead to Sudan’s disintegration and transformation into a failed state.

> “From the outset, we made it clear—there is no military solution to this conflict. The only way to achieve peace, stability, and security is through a political solution that reflects the will of the Sudanese people,” she said.

### Commitment to Humanitarian Aid

Responding to questions about the UAE’s humanitarian contributions, AlHefeiti reaffirmed the country’s **commitment to supporting the Sudanese people** based on fraternal and ethical values. She noted that this support has existed long before the current crisis, with the UAE being one of Sudan’s largest development partners.

Over the past decade, the **UAE has provided over $3.5 billion in aid**, including more than **$600 million** in humanitarian assistance since the conflict began, and **$200 million pledged** during the High-Level Humanitarian Conference for Sudan held in Addis Ababa.

### Resilience Against Disinformation

When asked about the **Sudanese Armed Forces’ campaign** to distort the UAE’s humanitarian role, AlHefeiti emphasized that such fabrications would not distract the UAE from its mission of aiding the Sudanese people.

> “Their denial of responsibility shows a blatant disregard for the suffering of the Sudanese people. Yet the UAE stands with the brotherly Sudanese people until peace is restored,” she concluded.
